It Starts with Love...

Showing and breeding dogs has always been a dream of mine since childhood. However, I always thought that I would be showing and breeding large dogs such as German Shepherds, etc...until this adorable little angel came into our lives 11 years ago. His name is Chewy (short for Chewbacca) and caused me to unexpectedly fall in love with the Yorkshire Terrier breed! My husband and I then started attending dog shows and reading books to learn everything we could about this historic breed.   - Dominique Cannon

Grand Champion Bloodlines

If you want the best...you have to start with the best! Even though Chewy won our hearts and is near perfect in every way...he turned out to be a bit larger (big boned) than first expected. So next we bought a smaller boned male and named him Harley. He did well in the conformation ring and earned several points on his way towards a championship, however, he got to a point where he didn't enjoy showing and there was an undesired personality trait that we did not want to pass on to future litters. Harley is still a pet today and retired. He enjoys sleeping in, eating bones, walks, and did we mention sleeping? We then decided to start our breeding program by acquiring a bitch with the best combination of healthy blood lines, bone structure, top line, temperament, and personality. Our search led us all the way to a well respected, long time, breeder in Brazil. We named our new puppy bitch Gracie Lou after Sandra Bullock's pageant character in the movie Ms. Congeniality..."Gracie Lou Freebush". Gracie Lou Cannon is the daughter of two Brazilian Grand Champions in conformation and is now a Grand champion herself here in the US. She is a great mama having already birthed several healthy girls and boys over three total litters. We are so blessed to have our Gracie Lou for life!

Attention to Detail...

We have learned about proper care and coat maintenance from some of the best Yorkie Breeders and Handlers in the world! Our dogs and puppies receive only the best nutrition, grooming, training, and social skill development that can possibly be provided for them. We ensure that any breeding that we do will only help to enhance and evolve the breed back toward original, healthy, breed standards. We do not believe in the perpetuation of breeding and selling disproportionately smaller yorkies labeled as "teacup yorkies" as these dogs are unnatural and tend to have a shorter life span and many health problems in their lives. We do not believe that it is fair to the soul of a precious, loving, dog to bring it into the world as a "teacup" knowing all of these facts. According to AKC, a Yorkshire Terrier, even though it is considered a Toy breed, should still be 7" to 8" inches high, weigh approximately 7 lbs., and have a life expectancy of 11-15 years. They also say "Beneath the dainty, glossy, floor-length coat of a Yorkshire Terrier beats the heart of a feisty, old-time terrier. Yorkies earned their living as ratters in mines and mills long before they became the beribboned lapdogs of Victorian ladies."
